Abstracts 

Please prepare an abstract according to these guidelines and send to the Program Coordinator for your event. 

Audiovisual 

Fields Institute staff will assist speakers with all audiovisual equipment, including a wireless microphone a few minutes before their talk. Fields Institute standard audiovisual equipment provided for a talk is a screen with data projector and a laptop computer, if needed. In addition, all our lecture rooms are equipped with chalk blackboards.

The standard options for presentations are:

1. PDF file loaded on a Fields Institute laptop computer. This is the most preferred and reliable option. Please send us your slides in advance by email or bring them on a USB key as soon as you arrive. 

2. A PowerPoint presentation loaded on your own laptop computer. Please notify a Program Coordinator ahead of time and allow at least 10 minutes before your presentation so that your computer can be set up and its compatibility with Fields Institute equipment checked. 

3. A PowerPoint presentation loaded on a Fields Institute laptop computer. This is the least reliable option as differences in fonts and PowerPoint versions may cause formatting problems. Please send your slides in advance, and please also include a version saved in the old "2000/XP" format to use as a backup in case of problems with a newer version.

Please let the Program Coordinator for your event know in advance what audiovisual set-up you will be using.

Advance Submission Via Email

Speakers who wish to submit their presentations in advance can email them to their event's Program Coordinator. Please use the subject line Fields Event Presentation with your last name.

On-Site Submission and Presentation Reviewing

Check in at Room 222 to submit your files, if you did not do so in advance, and to preview your presentation. Please provide your file on a USB key at the beginning of the day or in a scheduled break preceding your talk. Your event's Program Coordinator will assist with the upload of your files and provide the opportunity for you to preview and/or edit your presentation as necessary.

Recording and Live-streaming

All talks at the Fields Institute are recorded and live-streamed, unless speakers or event organizers request otherwise. Talks are live-streamed through FieldsLive and recordings are subsequently available on the Institute’s video archive. 

Let a Program Coordinator know in advance if you prefer your event or talk to not be streamed/recorded.
