This prestigious six-month appointment will provide a world-renowned researcher with a unique opportunity to work at the Fields Institute with many Canadian and international colleagues on a research project of their choosing, which may or may not be associated with the Thematic Program running at that time.
The Simons Distinguished Visitor is expected to be in residence at Fields for the semester, and to give an advanced research level course. In addition to a US$100,000 salary and US$25,000 for living expenses, US$36,000 in support will be provided for graduate students or postdoctoral fellows under their supervision who will join them in Toronto.
There are no restrictions on the nationality of candidates for this position. In accordance with our mandate, the Fields Institute encourages applications from women and under-represented groups in the mathematical sciences. This position has been made possible with support of the Simons Foundation.
Benefits
In addition to a US$100,000 salary and US$25,000 for living expenses, US$36,000 in support will be provided for graduate students or postdoctoral fellows under their supervision who will join them in Toronto. Simons Distinguished Visitors will also be provided with office space and access to all Fields facilities and activities.
