The MfPH (Mathematics for Public Health) initiative is a pan-Canadian, emerging infectious disease modelling (EIDM) multi-disciplinary network that applies advanced mathematical techniques to help achieve public health objectives. This document outlines the MfPH program’s plan for a career networking event to connect our Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) and academic researchers with various industries.

Major Goals:

1. Connect MfPH HQP Job Seekers with various Job Providers (Industry, Agency, etc)

2. Foster collaborative partnerships between MfPH academic researchers and industry partners. These partnerships can be utilized for knowledge mobilization and recruitment of future HQPs

Timeline and General Plan for the Event:

The general plan is to allow industries to present their relevant professional focus and their needs for talent through short presentations.  HQP will additionally present their expertise via very short presentations and/or poster sessions.  The event will create time for networking between both industries and HQP, as well as industries and academic collaborators. We are planning to hold this event on November 2-3, 2023 at the Fields Institute, Toronto Canada. 

This networking event will serve to establish and strengthen a continuous collaborative partnership between the Mathematics for Public Health researchers and participating industry partners. The connections created during this event can be utilized for the development of knowledge-sharing partnerships between researchers and industry partners through the development of collaborative research projects. The established network will also serve as the basis of the continued recruitment of HQPs. 

While some presentations will be broadcasted onto zoom, this networking event is catered to the in-person participants and we highly encourage people to attend in person to maximize the benefit of networking and presenting your skills to industry partners.
