The Role of Mathematics in MathEd Research: Fireside Chats with Mathematics Education Researchers
Description
Research in mathematics education has a long-standing tradition of studying critical features for mathematics teaching, learning, and understanding while placing mathematics at the center stage of the inquiry. “What is the role of mathematics in mathematics education research?” remains an open question in the community that continues to invite discussion and debate. In this session, our invited speakers will share the mathematics that inspired, surprised, or redirected their research activities and discuss the role and changes in the status of mathematics in the mathematics education research community.
